Lorna Tolentino: Lovely and Timeless

H.O.P.E. (Healing of Pain and Enlightenment) volume two brings us to a new direction via Lorna Tolentino in ‘Wings of the Soul,’ produced by Pinky Tobiano and line produced by Star Records with the help of Philip Cu-Unjieng.

After the successful H.O.P.E. album volume one which earned a gold record award, Wings of the Soul encompasses a different set of concept: acceptance, healing, surrendering, and moving on. The new path of this CD comes in the person of Lorna Tolentino. She stands for those people who have had a loved one suffer from cancer.

Like the first volume, the album sales of the Wings of the Soul album will also go to certain beneficiaries: The Pinky cares Foundation & The Rudy Fernandez Cancer Foundation, Inc.

The artists who participated in the album are chosen for a specific reason and each song that they rendered holds a particular significance and meaning. The artists namely, Sharon Cuneta (Special Memory), Tirso Cruz III (Awit Ni Daboy), Sen. Jinggoy Estrada, Sen. Bong Revilla, and Philip Salvador (Doon Lang), Christopher De Leon, Bobot Mortiz and Ricky Davao (Stand By Me featuring Bodie Cruz), Aga Muhlach (Let it Be), Gary Valenciano (Ikaw Lamang), Piolo Pascual (I’ll Be There For You/I will Be here) and Jamie Rivera (My Life Is In Your Hands), did it for the love of Lorna and Rudy Fernandez.

Aside from the songs, a narration from Lorna will be heard in the CD. Both the prologue and epilogue are written by Ms. Bibeth Orteza.

Pip, whom I consider as being instrumental to the recording of this album has been (and still is) an eternal pillar of generosity to which we are forever grateful to have him in our lives.

Senator Jinggoy Estrada who lent his voice in the song and also lent to Rudy a lifetime of best-friendship, loyalty, and brotherhood; as well as Senator Bong revilla whose vocals reverberates his thoughtful and nurturing friendship with Rudy; and Phillip Salvador whose voice contribution resonated his deep affection for Daboy. Sepcial thanks to Tirso Cruz III who co-wrote lyrical revisions to the song and to song writer Willy Cruz whose generosity was astounding as he granted us permission to use his song and even helped in the revision of some of the lyrics to tailor the message of the song.

Three close friends, who stood by Rudy as a testament to their unyielding friendship with Daboy, and thus in unison, befittingly sang the song---Christopher De leon, Bobot Mortiz, and Ricky Davao. We are also truly grateful to both Tirso Cruz III and son Bodie Cruz who respectively contributed back-up and rap vocals to the song.

Let It Be
Aga Muhlach whose cover of the Beatles hit commemorates Rudy’s favorite song. Daboy’s friendship with Aga reaches far bacj to Aga’s Bagets teenage years.

Ikaw Lamang
Gary Valenciano who is an icon of humanity and spirituality, is an honor to be a part of this album. Gary V. is an unwavering earth-angel who is a wellspring of kindness and charitable deeds---anyone even mildly acquainted with the man invariably recognize such truth.

Piolo Pascual is one of whom Rudy shared an affectionate and professional mutual affinity with--- they appreciated and respected each other’s work as talented actors.

Jamie Rivera--- a treasure of a friend I’ve had the great fortune to recently have in my life, her generosity in terms of her love, and her efforts to translate that love into action has been deeply felt and appreciated by all of us in the family. Jamie performed this song during the final moments of Rudy’s burial.

Nine months after the death of her husband, Rudy "Daboy" Fernandez, actress Lorna Tolentino said she is not yet ready to entertain suitors.

In an interview with ABS-CBN's weekly entertainment show "The Buzz," Tolentino admitted that she was told that there are guys who are interested in pursuing her and just waiting for the right time to court her.

Tolentino, however, said she is not yet taking these seriously.

"Maghihintay daw sila ng after a year but hindi ko iniisip kasi napaka-seryosong bagay para isipin ko sa ngayon," Tolentino said.

Tolentino added that she is not sure yet if she is ready to fall in love again.

"Hindi ko alam kung kailan darating 'yon pero kung dumating hindi ko naman sinasara ang pintuan ko. Pero I'm now happy with my kids and mga friends na parang pamilya na din," she said.

Cellphone

Tolentino, who recently revealed that Daboy visited her in her dreams, shared that the most important thing that her husband left her was his mobile phone.

"Nandoon lahat ‘yong diary niya. Everything about him, the notes from 2001 to 2008. Kung saan siya pumupunta pati time, tapos may mga notes siya, iba iba din may mga picture. Everything about him, it’s there," the actress said.

Tolentino said the cellphone is now in the safekeeping of her son Rafael.

"Pati ang line hindi ko pa pinapaputol," she shared.

Tolentino is promoting the album "Wings of The Soul: H.O.P.E. Vol. 2," a CD that she recorded to pay tribute to her husband.

She is also set to star in her upcoming television series alongside Gabby Concepcion and John Estrada.

After the success of H.O.P.E.Vol. 1, inilabas ng Star Records ang H.O.P.E. (Healing of Pain and Enlightenment) Volume 2 Wings of the Soul na prodyus ng isang cancer patient na si Pinky Tobiano at line produced ng Star Records.

Kung ang Vol. 1 ay isang tribute para sa mga maysakit ng cancer, ang Vol. 2 ay para sa mga nag-aalaga sa mga may sakit ng cancer. Tulad ni Lorna Tolentino na ang asawang si Rudy Fernandez ay namatay sa sakit na cancer.

Katulad ng first volume, ang kikitain ng pangalawang album ay mapupunta sa The Pinky Cares Foundation at sa Rudy Fernandez Cancer Foundation, Inc.

“Binantayan ako sa recording ko nina Pip at Jungee Marcelo. May mga ginawa silang cure pero, sa final recording, inisang pasada ko lang ang kanta ko,” may pagmamalaking nasabi ni Lorna na umaming hindi pa siya healed pero sa tulong ng kanyang mga anak, pamilya at ni Rudy at ng mga kaibigan nila, patungo na siya rito.

“Nung una natatakot pa akong dalawin ni Rudy pero ngayon, gusto kong magpapakita siya sa akin araw-araw. Gustung-gusto ko nang makita siya, miss ko na siya,” pagtatapat nito.

Bagaman at marami silang kumanta sa album, masyadong abala ang marami dito para mag-promote ng album na kamakailan lamang inilabas pero naka-gold na agad. Pero walang reklamo si LT kung sa kanya matoka ang pagpo-promote ng album. Sa press launch ng Wings of the Soul, kinanta ni Pip ang Awit ni Daboy na napakaganda ng pagkakagawa niya at iniyakan ko.

Actress Lorna Tolentino said listening to songs of hope and inspiration has helped ease the pain of losing her husband Rudy "Daboy" Fernandez.

Tolentino, who lost Daboy to cancer nine months ago, said letting go and healing is a process that takes a long time.

In an interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, Tolentino shared that listening to "Wings of The Soul: H.O.P.E. (Healing of Pain and Enlightenment)," which she recorded with other friends from showbiz for the memory of Daboy, has helped her cope with sadness.

Tolentino said she plays "Wings of the Soul" CD whenever she misses her hubby.

"I did that right after noong matapos ang album. Wala kaming ginawa kung hindi patugtugin ng mga bata," she said.

She and her sons long for Daboy whenever they listen to the songs, and they can't help but turn emotional when they hear the music.

Recording the album was a big help in the healing process, she said.

"Sa palagay ko naman, kapag mayroon kang outlet noong dinadaanan mo, this is one way hindi ba na parang isang outlet mo na maging busy ka? At the same time, nare-remind ka na kumbaga, marami pang magagandang mangyayari sa buhay mo as long as buhay ka, although mas maganda ‘yong kapag wala ka na at kapiling mo ang Panginoon, iba din naman ‘yon," Tolentino told abs-cbnNEWS.com.

Dreams about Daboy

Tolentino also disclosed that she feels happy despite her loss since Daboy always visits her in her dreams.

Her dreams with Daboy are never about serious matters but are always about the highs of their life together. She said this is probably because Daboy always wanted her to be always happy.

"H.O.P.E. Vol. 2: Wings of The Soul" deals with acceptance, surrendering and moving on. While H.O.P.E. Volume 1 is mainly for those who have cancer or for those who are sick, "Wings of The Soul" is for those who take care of the sick, especially people who have a loved one with cancer.

In memory of Daboy, who was known for being generous, proceeds of "Wings of the Soul" will go to the Rudy Fernandez Cancer Foundation Inc. and Pinky Cares Foundation. Both organizations help cancer patients.

The stars who participated in "H.O.P.E. Vol. 2" were chosen for a specific reason, and each song they rendered has a particular significance and meaning.

“Iyung sinasabi ko na lalong tumatagal, lalong sumasakit, it’s because lalo mong nami-miss. ‘Yung the missing part is so hard. Siguro, ‘yun ‘yung matagal bago ka makaka-recover.
“I mean, for 27 years of my life, I was with Rudy. So, talagang you will yearn for him and you will long for his physical presence,” sambit ni Ms. LT sa presscon niya kamakalawa para sa volume 2 ng H.O.P.E (Healing of Pain and Enlightenment) album na Wings of the Soul sa ABS-CBN.
Nabanggit niyang napapanaginipa n niya lately si Daboy, may pahiwatig ba ito na sinasabi sa kanyang mag-move on na siya?
“Napag-usapan kasi namin ‘yon, lahat-lahat ng pwedeng mangyari pag wala na siya. So, meron kaming mga conversation nu’ng nasa ospital siya, nu’ng magkasama kami sa Amerika…
“Mahabang usapan ng lahat-lahat. Kung paano pag wala na siya, kung ano ‘yung gusto niya. Nag-iwan naman siya sa akin ng mga bagay-bagay na gusto niyang mangyari.
“Pero ang alam ko, gusto niya siyempre na maging masaya ako at maalagaan nang husto ‘yung mga bata (dalawang anak nila na sina Ralphe at Renz). ‘Yun ‘yung priority,” sey pa ng magandang biyuda ni Daboy.
Kelan niya ba masasabing totally healed na siya at fully recovered na siya sa nangyari kay Daboy?
“First, parang wala akong time for that. I cannot give an exact time when I will really say na naka-recover na ako. Kasi, parang lifetime na para sa akin ito, eh!
“Rudy will always be here beside me and in my heart. Kumbaga, hindi na mawawala ‘yon. If the moving on is working, siguro naman, I will. Pero even if I’m working, I’m sure, nandu’n pa rin siya, di ba? Iba pag mahal mo, nandu’n talaga sa puso mo all the time,” sabi pa niya.
Aminado si Ms. LT na nu’ng Disyembre na naging abala siya sa nasabing CD ay hindi pa siya handang magtrabaho. Nu’ng panahong ‘yon ay nag-concentrate siya sa Wings of the Soul.
“Mas maganda kasi na para matulungan mo ang sarili mo, tumulong ka rin sa iba. And this is one way of helping other people, lahat ng taong may pinagdaraanang pagsubok. Nababagay itong album na ‘to para sa kanila.”
Sampung kanta ang nasa volume 2 ng H.O.P.E album kabilang ang dalawang awitin mula mismo kay LT (Far From Home at Kalooban Mo). Siya rin ang nag-voice over ng madamdaming prologue at epilogue nito.
Nasabi rin ni Ms. LT na pagkatapos niyang maging abala sa nasabing CD ay balik trabaho na siya. Una niyang gagawin ang isang episode ng MMK na sa Marso 28 at 30 ang kanyang taping.

KUNG si Lorna Tolentino ang tatanungin, gusto niyang mabigyan din ng parangal na posthumous award ng Malacañang ang namayapang asawa niyang si Rudy Fernandez, na tulad ni Francis Magalona. Pero, hindi raw niya alam kung paano pinipili ang nabibigyan ng naturang award.

“May sarili yata silang discretion sa pagbibigay ng award. Kung mabibigyan siya, maraming salamat,” sabi ni Lorna.

Inisa-isa nga ni LT ang mga naging accomplishment ni Daboy bilang artista.

“Marami naman siyang magaganda at matitinong pelikula. I think, 120 plus movies ang nagawa ni Rudy at ‘yung pagiging President ng Actor’s guild for 6 years, 3 terms, I think, isang malaking achievement ‘yun kasi at that time, talagang masasabi ko na nandoon ang unity ng lahat ng artista noong panahong si Rudy ang naging Presidente ng Actor’s Guild.”

Sa mismong press launch ay ini-announce na rin ni Ms. Annabelle Regalado of Star Records na hindi pa man officially nairi-release ang H.O.P.E. 2 CD ay umabot na ito sa Gold record sales.

At halos lahat ng artists na kumanta sa album ay naging malaking bahagi sa buhay nilang mag-asawa tulad ng mga matatalik na kaibigan ni Daboy na sina Sen. Jinggoy Estrada, Sen. Bong Revilla, Phillip Salvador, Sharon Cuneta, Aga Muhlach, Tirso Cruz III, Ricky Davao, Jamie Rivera and Piolo Pascual.”

Nagkakilala kami ni Pinky sa presscon ng bagong CD ni LT. Naging bestfriend ko siya dahil tinupad niya ang kanyang OPM sa akin. Kung anuman ‘yon, sa aming dalawa na lang.

Cancer survivor si Pinky. Naging magkaibigan sila ni LT nang magkaroon ng kanser si Rudy Fernandez.

Si Pinky ang kasama ni LT nang pumunta ito sa Holy Land para magkaroon ng spiritual healing.

Malaking tulong si Pinky kaya nagkaroon ng katu­paran ang pangarap ni LT na makapaglabas ng CD album para sa memory ni Rudy Ang Rudy Fernandez Cancer Foundation at Pinky Cares Foundation ang mga beneficiaries ng mga kikitain ng H.O.P.E. CD.

Mabibili na sa mga record bars ang touching CD album ni LT. Take note, gold na ang unang volume ng H.O.P.E. CD kaya naglabas ng volume 2 ang Star Records.

Ang sipag-sipag ni LT na mag-promote ng album. Willing nga siya na pumunta sa ibang bansa para ma-promote niya sa TFC ang project nila ni Pinky.

Sulit na sulit ang ibabayad ng mga bibili ng album dahil talagang nakaka-inspire ito. Hindi nakakahiyang irekomenda ang album.
