In a no-holds-barred exclusive interview with Ricky Lo and with Startalk, Rudy Fernandez and Lorna Tolentino break their silence regarding their present face-off with Ampullary Cancer. Same time last year, the couple happily announced that Daboy was cleared. But now, it is back and so are the hurtful rumors that prompted the family to finally speak up.
Rudy stated forcefully.
In the face of’ Daboy’s battle with cancer, the couple and their family attest that they are staying strong. Their younger son Renz says, “nakaka-lungkot talaga pero kung malulungkot lang ako all the time, parang give up na rin kami.”
“Rudy is so positive about everything. Kahit na medyo nanghihina siya, after ng chemo niya, for a while lang yun, nilalaban niya yun,” Lorna adds.
Daboy has to undergo 12 sessions of chemotherapy. Instead of open surgery, he will also have to go to Tokyo, Japan for a Radio Frequency Ablation or RFA. It is the latest technique that uses high-frequency electrical current to destroy malignant cancer cells.
Despite the cloud hanging over the family, Lorna sees a good result. “Bawat araw, bawat oras, bawat minuto lalo naming pinapakita sa isa’t isa yung pagmamahal namin as a family.”
And, what is her message to her husband?

Lorna clarifies report that Rudy has a pacemaker

"Yung panganay ko, si Ralph, is the most affected among us. He went to Baguio recently for a silent retreat for his Dad and I appreciate that," sabi ng 45-year-old actress.
"I have no reason to complain. Napakaraming blessings na ang ibinigay sa akin ni Lord including my husband and my two sons and I know we can survive this trial," positibong pananaw ng award-winning actress.
